Christine Highnett

I thought it would be lovely to share my interest in creative textiles with you all.

I have always been interested in art and craft since a young child and have tried several different avenues.

Then in 1996 I decided to do the Open College of the Arts course in textiles which I enjoyed and gained my HNC. Since then I have completed with disctinction a City & Guilds Historical Heirloom Machine Embroidery course and several other courses.

My work continues to evolve incorporating many aspects of textiles, with the concentration on texture and colour, including 3D work with the main inspiration coming from natural sources.

The work I am doing at the moment is based on Eco Printing which requires a lot of experimentation to gain some pleasing results. The random effect that can be achieved with this process, that can then be enhanced in many ways.

I love to share my work during the Open Studios, giving visitors an insight into the process and techniques involved in making my work.
